Baker Academic Title Awarded Best Biblical Studies Book by The Word Guild

The Baker Academic title A New Heaven and a New Earth: Reclaiming Biblical Eschatology by J. Richard Middleton won in the Biblical Studies category of The 2014 Word Awards.

The Word Awards encourage the pursuit of excellence in the art, craft, practice, and ministry of writing and help to raise the profile of Canadian writers who are Christian.

In A New Heaven and a New Earth, Middleton draws upon the full sweep of the biblical narrative to make a case for Christian hope rooted in a new heaven and a new earth rather than an otherworldly heaven. This holistic view of the future, says Middleton, has important ethical implications for our lives now.

This is not the first acclaim that A New Heaven and a New Earth has received. It has previously been named a top book of 2014 by Englewood Review of Books, Hearts & Minds Books, and the Jesus Creed blog.
